Presentation
ABCD (Automation of Libraries and Documentation Centers, from its name in Spanish and Portuguese) is a multilingual, Open Source, Web application for the management of libraries, containing core library functions such as acquisitions, cataloging, lending and database administration. It also includes an advanced lending module called EmpWeb.
The development of ABCD is promoted and coordinated by BIREME, with the support of VLIR and the collaboration of many people from different institutions and countries .

Pre-required Softwares
ABCD use requires:
- Windows or Linux Apache 2.2.x
- PHP 5.2.x
- YAZ
- Mysql 5.1 or newer (Only for EmpWeb)
- Java 1.5(Only for EmpWeb and Linux)

ABCD 1.0 version (beta) - Release news
For Windows there are two installation packages available: assisted (Wizard) ABCD_1.0_wiz_full.exe or unassisted (.zip) ABCD_1.0_full.zip.
Both installers include Apache, PHP and Yaz pre-configured for ABCD.
For Linux installation (ABCD_1.0_lin.tar.gz), the pre-required software are not included. For more information on Windows and Linux requirements click here.

Further information
How to contribute
At http://reddes.bvsaude.org/projects/abcd you will find information about the development schedule and the areas where you can participate/contribute. The site is based on the TRAC tool for version control and includes a wiki for for collaborative documentation. It is integrated with Subversion. Here you can contribute by informing about bugs, sending suggestions and even participate directly in the development work.
